Collection: Wet palettes

A "wet" palette is a specialised type of palette, designed specifically for use with acrylic paints.

A wet palette is composed of a plastic reservoir, a sponge and paper membranes that go over the sponge. You add water to the sponge, then put and smooth out the membrane over it, and place your paints on the membrane.

Acrylics, especially those pre-thinned hobby paints designed for use in miniature painting, dry very fast when exposed to air, which makes it difficult to work certain techniques like wet-blending. A wet palette addresses this issue, allowing longer working times and a more relaxed pace for your painting.

The sponges of Redgrass palettes are treated with a solution to prevent mold growth, but we recommend that you use the palette only with de-ionised (or distilled) water and squeeze out the sponge when not in use.

Please note that artist-grade acrylic paints are much thicker than those used for miniature modelling, and it's preferable to use dedicated artist-grade membranes with those.
